Aeaea

Odyseus' men explore the island and find the witch Circe. She invites them in and serves them a feast that would make them forget about their homeland. Then using her wand, she puts them in a pigsty and turns them into pigs. Eurylochus, who did not join the others at the feast, finds Odysseus who receives a plant from Athena to reverse the Circe's effects. They stay on the island and are later sent to Hades where Odysseus is told where he should go to get home.

The Cyclops

Polyphemus' Cave

Odysseus and his men encounter the Cyclops, Polyhemus in his home. Polyphemus eats some of Odysseus's men and keeps them trapped in his cave. Odysseus gives Polyphemus wine to make him intoxicated and stabs him in his eye for revenge and a way to escape.

The Sirens

When Odysseus goes toward the Sirens with his crew, the crew put special beeswax in their ears to avoid being provoked by them. However, upon Odysseus' request, they tie him to the mast of the lugger without beeswax for him to listen to the Sirens' song. Perimedes and Eurylochus continue to keep Odysseus still until they pass the Sirens.

Troy

Odysseus and his men fought the Trojans in Troy. They won the Trojan war thanks to Odysseus' Trojan horse idea: they built a large wooden horse and pretended that it was a gift and a peace offering. Odysseus and his men hid inside when the Trojans brought the horse into the city. When everyone was asleep that night, the men came out of the horse and killed all of the Trojans.

Scylla and Charybdis

Odysseus continues on the route that Tiresias suggested toward Scylla and Charybdis. When they are approaching, they see Charybdis' whirlpool and steer away from it. Then, the six-headed-monster, Scylla, captured and ate six of Odysseus's men. Luckily, the men that remain are able to keep sailing onward. They later become foolish and disobey Odysseus, by eating the sheep of the sun god, Helios. The men are punished by being executed. Odysseus is now alone.

Ithaca

Odysseus returns to Ithaca and disguises as a beggar. He finds his old swineherd where he spends the night. The next morning, his son, Telemachus, arrives home and meets his faher for the first time in twenty years. With the help of the swineherd and cowherd, Odysseus and his son kill all of the suitors and Odysseus reunites with his wife, Penelope. Odysseus once again ressumes his place as king of Ithaca.

Ogygia

Odysseus is held on Ogygia by Calypso for many years. She wants him to stay on the island to be her immortal guard and lover. Odysseus refuses and wants to go home. He is finally freed when Zeus orders Hermes to tell Calypso to let him go. Odysseus is finally free and begins to travel home on a raft that Calypso provides.

Land of the Lotus Eaters

Upon arriving at the island, Odysseus sent three men, one being a runner, to find out what race of men inhabited the island. But instead of returning to report their information to Odysseus, they ate some the Lotus plant which caused them to want to stay on the island forever. Odysseus had to find them, bring them back to the ship, and tie them down so they wouldn't try to go back.
