All these topics had a very large impact on the poets writing.

The renaissance period was considered to be an awakening.

Over 10,000 words were created in this era alone

The English Language was rapidly absorbing words from other languages due to wars, exploration, diplomacy and colonization

The poets of the era were influenced by there surroundings, love, romance and drama which was taken from Greek and Latin writing.

The rediscovery of Rhyme, Rhythm, iambic pentameter, turn

It all happened over the 14th, 15th and 16th century

There were many different rulers, and different religions that caused quite a stir.

At the time England was ruled by Queen Elizabeth

She was not the only ruler of the time, there was also the well known Henry the 8th.

During the Renaissance there was the break of the plague that killed 100,000 people.

A major invention that was created was the printing press, it was used frequently through the mid 16th century, this made mass communication much easier. This also encouraged poet to publish their work in the English vocabulary and not in Latin or Greek.

Shakespeare’s preferred writing style was very unique. He used Iambic Pentameter and terameter. He uses techniques such as Rhyme, Rhythm, Rhyming couplets, Blank verse and prose. He also uses metaphors, similes, oxymoron and paradox. He had a writing style like no other, his extraordinary skill and poetic imagination made him one of the most memorable poets of all time.

He was an extremely significant part of the period and now. He created over 3,000 new words, many new sayings and phrases and used 29,066 unique words.Some of his phrases were ,catch a cold, heart of gold, and even" knock knock whose there"? All these phrases are used today. He helped develop the English language from the medieval and basic approach to literature and made it modern and what we use today

He was a Catholic even through the change to protestant, they believed in supernatural beings, gods, magic and witches which had an influence on his writing , this is shown in A Mid Summer Nights Dream

Religious or cultural situations were similar, there was the change in the church, there were the protestants and the Catholics. An economic topic was the inflation in prices under Queen Elizabeth meaning that many people were experiencing poverty.

In the Renaissance era the poets and artists were traveling away from the medieval approach to culture and writing about there religion, the church and battles and starting the become involved with more human emotions such as love and passion and humanitarian issues that are more complex.
