- President Snow has hundreds of cameras and microphones set up in the Hunger Games, watching your every move, and hearing even your slightest whisper.

In the novel, there endless examples of how the government and game-makers "created" genetically altered organisms, to deadlier creatures. A few examples of this are:
The famous Mockingjay Tracker Jacker, and The Wolf-Mutt-Humans near the end of novel, with the eyes of the deceased tributes.
There are countless stories of genetic mutations/discovered alien bodies leaked from the C.I.A. or some other top secret agency in the U.S.
- People who live in the richer Districts have constant electricity, fashionable clothing, luxurious meals, surgeries to make them physically appealing, and only have to be entered into the games once every year.
- People who live in the poorer Districts have to enter several times just to receive the food they need to survive. Katniss one said "In District 12, it isn't uncommon for someone to keel over from starvation".
This refers to 99% of the population (the elitists) having 99% of the money, meanwhile 1% having little money/power, and being pushed around by the rich and powerful.
- Countries pushed into austerity and poverty by structural adjustment programs.
- Basically from owing too much money to the government.
- Spending low money on the needs for surviving (food, house, kids, clothing, etc.)
- In District 12 money is really hard to come by, yet they still have to pay for all of their living expenses.
- District 12 is extremely poor, and the Capitol is rich because they hoard all of the money for themselves.
- Every District has their own set of rules for the economy. Some may be terrible, and others may be great.
- There are rich Districts such as Districts 1, 2, and 3. These Districts have a better lifestyle compared to the poorer Districts, but still, all Districts have to participate in the reapings.
