Personification

Imagery

Personification is a figure of speech in which a thing , an idea or an animal is given human attributes.

Personification is used in this poem by representing Lenore by the raven to tell a message to Poe that Lenore is never coming back by making the raven say nevermore.

Example 1 : The raven is 1 example of personification. Poe had personified the raven.It may be representing Wisdom, Lenore I am not really sure but i think that is is Lenore the raven itself

Example 2 : And my soul from out the shadow that lies floating on the floor.Poe made the shadow alive , the shadow is lying on the floor which only living things can do but shadow is not alive . It means that the raven has overpowered him.

Imagery means to use figurative language to represent objects , action and ideas in such a way that it appears to physical senses.

Imagery is used in the poem by creating a dark and spooky image in your head.That makes the readers want to read more of it.

Example 1 : as of some one gently rapping,rapping at my chamber door.The word chamber door creates a scary image in your head.

Example 2 : to the fowl whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom's core.It creates an image that the ravens eyes was so dark and scary that it felt like the ravens eyes were about to reach Poe's heart. It tells that the ravens eyes were so sinister that it made a person feel like it was about to reach his bosom's core.

Metaphor

Correspondence of sound between words or the endings of words, especially rhyme is used at the ends of the lines in poetry.

Rhyme is used in the poem to create rhythm to make it sound better.The reason that it is rhyming so much is that poems are written to be spoken out loud so that it would be easier to say it out loud.

Example 1 :Once upon a midnight dreary , while I pondered weak and weary.

Example 2 :Ah distinctly I remembered it was in bleak December

Metaphor is a figure of speech which makes an implicit,implied or hidden comparison between 2 things that are unrelated but share some common characteristics.

Metaphor is used in the poem by comparing the words to create a better common sense to make the reader understand about the poem more.

Example 1 : as his eyes have all the seeming of a demons that is dreaming it compares the raven eyes to a demons soul.

Example 2 : nameless here forever more it is comparing the death of Lenore that she is gone forever.

1. Rhyme is used the most because every single stanza has 2 or more rhymes.Simile is used the least in the poem because Poe uses more metaphor in his poems and it effects the poem a lot by using metaphor.

Mood is a literary element that evokes certain feelings in the readers through words and descriptions.

Mood is like an atmosphere it changes how you feel.

Mood is used in the poem by changing a normal bird into a demon that is bringing wisdom. What if they changed the raven by a parrot that would be just wrong just think about it.

Example 1 :The raven is 1 example of mood. The raven ,it's description to the way it describes how dark and by the looks it will probably give you the creeps but when you read it the 2 time it has so much deep meanings like sitting in the bust of Pallas represents that the raven is bringing wisdom and so much more.

Example 2 :and the silken sad of each rustling curtain changes the mood . When you read it you will feel like a someone is watching you and it changes the mood to creeped out

2.Mood supervised me because it changed how you feel , and it helped the poem be more mysterious and at the same time.

3.I think that imagery is the greatest impact to the reader because imagery creates shapes and patterns in your that makes the reader want to read more of it.

4.I personally think that personification impact the readers because when you don't get the poem and they have given objects or animals a human like feature that makes it more complicated
