MENTORING PROGRAM

(SAMP)

Alternative Class Schedule and Requirements for Student Athletes

How will the SAMP help SAs?

SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT WITH SUBJECT TEACHERS

- For subjects that will be seldom attended by the SAs, a list of Performance Tasks should be given during the start of the quarter. Teachers might be requested to attend to the SAs in his/her free time as need arises.

- Teachers are requested to use the missed days of the SAs as activity/ assessment days. In case of change in the schedule, the subject teachers must inform the mentors for proper coordination of SAs' requirements. (Mentors may proctor or facilitate the missed quizzes and activities for the SAs, provided that the subject teacher will give the activity or quiz ahead of time/ at least before the mentoring period)

- For other academic and behavior related issues of the SAs, advisers and subject teachers are required to channel the issues to SAs respective mentors.

- For official trainings and competitions teachers are requested to give the SAs ample time to comply with subject requirements. For close monitoring, teachers must inform the mentors about deadlines and submissions of subject requirements for the SAs.

Importance of SAMP

- This program will provide ASSISTANCE to all Student Athletes to better improve their academic performance.

- The program will ensure that schedules of academic and sports activities will be well coordinated as to not affect the academic responsibilities of the Student Athletes.

- This will help the Student Athletes cope with their academic obligations while balancing their duties as athletes.

OBJECTIVES

INITIAL MENTORING SCHEDULE

Discipline and Behavior

- Class Transfer Procedures:

> SAs must strictly follow the given schedule (a level team leader will be assigned to monitor the team)

> each member must bring his/her own chair to his/her respective classes

> they must stay at the back of the classroom and avoid destructing the class

> they must accomplish all forms needed before leaving the class

> they must return the chairs in their original section after their daily classes

> they must submit the accomplished form, worksheets and projects to the respective mentors during mentoring period for close monitoring and follow ups

STUDENT ATHLETES ARE TO FOLLOW ALL SCHOOL RULES AND POLICIES

Time and venue will be discussed by your respective mentors.

Mentoring sessions will start on Wednesday

2:00 - 2:30

- Proper and Complete School Uniform

- Attendance, Regularity and Punctuality

- Haircut

- Process of asking permission during tournaments and competition

- Student Athletes will be attending classes base on the schedule of their trainings with priority on the following subjects: Math, Science, English, Filipino, AP and Values

- Other subject teachers will be giving Performance Tasks every quarter to be facilitated by the teams' respective mentors.

- Due to the alternative schedule, teams might be asked to transfer from one section to another. (Guidelines for transferring will be discussed by the mentors)

- Mentors may help Student Athletes in academic lessons, performance tasks and other subject requirements during their common free time.

- It is the SAs responsibility to coordinate with their regular class teachers for missed quizzes, projects and other activities. Only the special class requirements will be facilitated by the mentors.

  • provide assistance for academic improvement of Student Athletes through the guidance of mentors.
  • strengthen the value formation program implementation to student athletes
  • ensure that proper guidance for Student Athletes' academic performance, extra-curricular participation and attendance and behavior we be highly supervised by the mentors.
  • help the student athletes adjust their class schedule to be aligned with the schedule of their trainings to ensure that they will not be missing important academic classes.

Note that it is possible for the mentoring schedule to change base on your training schedule

Other Policies and Guidelines

- General Assembly:

> SAs must stay in their designated area during General Assembly with their respective mentors.

> Mentors will check their attendance and uniform during the assembly. (Students who will not follow the school rules regarding assembly will be sent to a conference with the CSF.

> SAs must follow the line procedure of the Junior High School Department

Important Reminders

- SAs are NOT allowed to attend classes that are not in their alternative schedule.

- If they missed a class in their official schedule, they will be considered absent (rules in attendance will apply).

- Since most of the SAs will be transferring from one class to another, they must be seated at the back of the class to avoid class disruption.

- For SAs who are staying in the FEU Dorms, mentors are allowed to sign school papers in behalf of their parents and coaches. (It is the mentors' responsibility to inform the parents and/ coaches of the SAs.

- Aside from the mentors, the CSF must be notified in case of behavioral problems regarding SAs.
