  • "By any measure, it was terrible way to die. The woman was thrown on top of a coffin and apparently held down by her executioners as a heavy stone was placed on the small of her back. She was buried alive."
  • Many times people would be buried alive. They would be placed in coffins and held down by large stones so they could not escape.
  • "Dueling was the most popular activity during this time, even though it was dangerous many people still did it. Calling someone a liar, or otherwise impugning his honor, his courage, or his name is a challenge in itself."
  • Many times people would duel, or fight, to settle disagreements. You could bring on a duel by simply making a rude gesture or verbally initiating a challenge.

  • Chariots had a sense of good and bad. Soldiers could get around quickly, which was good in attacking so that they could get to certain places faster than enemies. However, horses pulling the chariots could get tired or get killed leaving a soldier immobilized.
  • "Artillerymen, both on land and at sea knew how to make powder after the continental method, being aware of theory that, not only the ingredients be pure but that different sizes of artillery; and they adhered to the customary-and often dangerous- mode of charging their pieces with powder that weighed two-thirds of the weight of the ball."
  • Troops had men specifically for firing cannons whether on ships or on land. They came up with new theories and recipes for charging the cannons with gun powder and artillery shells to make the cannons preform the best.

- Knights could throw their spears while mounted on their horses or while attacking on foot. However, their

word can be very effective in hand to combat.

Sentence could be for anything up to 30 days, during which time a criminal could die from thirst or starvation unless friends or relatives intervened."

  • Queen Elizabeth would persecute Catholics because their religion did not abide by certain laws. She would punish them by death in many different torture methods.
