There's a saying "The tide always returns what you cast out" and I can't help but think of how Trition would feel if he ever had a daughter that had tentacles instead of a tail.

It's so hard having tentacles in a city of mermaids; sometimes I wish I looked like everyone else, other than my family everyone here has fins. I'm proud of my heritage; I just wish being a sea-witch wasn't so lonely and that the other kids wouldn't focus on how different I am from them.

Dear Diary,
Today was the school talent show; I was so excited to perform my song. Then those mean mermaids ruined it for me; luring me into the hidden caves and entrapping me so I missed the show. I am so heart broken. I should have known it was too good to be true; why would they want to spend time with me, someday I will get even with them.

Dear Diary,
Today mother said that I'm old enough to learn magic; finally, I thought this day would never come. She said that it's tradition and a great honor. I'm just glad to be learning magic at last! Not only will it be fun but I can protect myself from the mean mermaids and help others. Maybe now they will accept me.

Dear Diary,
I don’t understand why the mermaids don’t want to play with me. Just because I am different from them and don’t have a tail like theirs, it seems so unfair. I am so lonely sometimes. Today while I was playing in the coral reef Prince Triton and his ruffian friends took great delight in scarring me. I was so scared that I shot ink at them to protect myself and then they swam off laughing and joking making fun of me. I just wanted to hide inside a cave and cry.

Dear Diary,
Today I was practicing some new transformation magic when two of Triton's friends snuck up on me and I accidentally turned them into sharks. Triton was furious and before I could fix it I was banished from the kingdom. So much for being accepted for who I am.
Dear Diary,
I've been on my own for a long time now. It gets really lonely sometimes; I've never really had any real friends. I did find two baby eels awhile back and I think that they will make great pets. They're very cute and affectionate and keep me company.
The Truth About Mermaids
Dear Diary,
I don'tknow why I thought mermaids where so nice. Today I saw something awful; Triton caused a terrible storm at sea and a ship went down with many sailors aboard. The mermaids just swam around and watched them drown, not even trying to save them. It makes me sad to think of those poor sailors. I wish I had more power, then I could have tried to help them.
