Air Pollution in Delhi

What is air pollution?

Air pollution is the introduction of particulates, biological molecules, or other harmful materials into Earth's atmosphere, causing diseases, allergies, death to humans, damage to other living organisms such as animals and food crops, or the natural or built environment.

What are primary pollutants?

They are pollutants which are passed into environment in the form they are produced. They belong to various categories like particulate, aerosol, reduced, oxidized. They are less toxic. They do not show synergism. Primary pollutants persist in the form they are released in the environment.

What are secondary pollutants?

The pollutants develop as a result of interaction of primary pollutants and environmental constituents. They are generally oxidizing. They are more toxic. Secondary pollutants show synergism. They are modified products.
