Safety

Ex)When you kick the ball into the goal with lots of momentum it hits the net not a brick wall. This happens because the net allows the momentum to spread out and disperse the momentum through out the net. If it was a brick wall then the ball would bounce right back at the goalie

Technique

Ex) When you receive a hard pass from a team mate you come to the ball. You "stick your foot out" to meet the ball. When you do this you are absorbing/decreasing some of the momentum from the ball to your feet. You are resisting it slowly and this has an outcome of better control.

Conservation of momentum- is when object 1 and object 2 collide, the momentum lost by object 1 is equal to the momentum gained by object 2.

Sport chosen: Soccer

Safety

Impulse momentum theorem-states that the change in momentum of an object equals the impulse applied to it.

Impulse and momentum sports project

ex) In soccer the only safety gear you wear is shin guards. If you get kicked in the shin the impact time will increase because of the foam and fabric that will cushion the force exerted on the shin. The force decreases. This will prevent a potential injury.

Technique

Ex) When you kick the ball you want it to have a set amount of air so that the ball is not flat. When you kick the ball it will go farther if the ball has the set amount of air. If the ball is flat then it will not only not go far but it will also increase the time of impact, but the force decreases.
