Planning for the next Annual Meeting starts well before the current year's meeting happens in February. AAAS sections and staff even work on next year's meeting when we're onsite at the current meeting.
The theme for next year's meeting is announced more than a year in advance, in late January.
Advance registration opens online in early August. Attendees have until late January to register at discounted rates. After advance registration closes, attendees can register online or onsite.

The call for symposia proposals opens in late January and closes in late April.
And then we begin the whole cycle again for the next year's meeting. The Annual Meeting may happen only once a year, but we're working throughout the year to put on the best events that we can!
Peer review of all completed symposia proposals happens in May. The Scientific Program Committee meets in June to make decisions about symposia acceptance. Organizers are notified in early July whether their symposium proposal has been accepted or declined.
The program is finalized in August and September. The full program schedule is released online in October.
Career Development Workshop proposals are accepted
from early March until early May.
The abstract submission site for the Student Poster Competition and General Poster Session opens in late May and closes in late October.
Poster presenters submit abstracts only (not full poster).
The call for exhibitors for this free, public event opens in late May and closes in early September. Notifications to accepted Family Science Days exhibitors are emailed by mid-September.
