Earthquake and tsunami meanings

Earthquake- A quick or sudden movement on the earth's crust which is caused when two tectonic plates hit each other.

Tsunami- it is a gigantic wave on the ocean which is often caused by an earthquake or volcanic erruption under the sea it is very destructive when it gets to land.

Protecting houses for future earthquakes and tsunamis

Locations where the earthquake and tsunami occured.

The Indian ocean is now monitered by seismometers to detect any incoming earthquakes or tsunamis and so that people can evacutate from their homes before hand.

The earthquake occured in some parts of India, Bangladesh, Myannmar, Somalia, Madagascar, Seyschelles, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Malaysia, Maldives, Thailand and Australia. The Tsunami happened on December 26 it was also reffered as the boxing day Tsunami

Comparison between Australia and Indonesia Aftermath

In Australia only 10 people died and 27 went missing but in Indonesia131,028 people died and 37,000 went missing. It costed Indonesia 1.4 billion to rebuild the city while the cost to rebuild Australia was unknown because no damage was reported only loss of peoples belongings

Causes of the earthquake and tsnami

the movements of the earth's tectonic plates were displaced when a huge amount of water sending shockwaves in every direction in the indian ocean. The tectonic plates in the indian ocean were pushing for years and its continuing to do so.

Cost and outcome of the Earthquake and Tsunami

In the earthquake a devastating 227,898 people died in as many as 14 countries and the most deaths occured in Indonesia 131,028 people died because it was the epicentre of the Earthquake. It costed 14 billion dollars to rebuild the damage caused in all 14 countries.
