Bullet Ant

Bullet Ant

The Bullet Ant, (Paraponera clavata) is a 1.5 inch insect. It lives in humid rainforests in Central and South America. The Bullet Ant survives by using its stinger. When it feels threatened, it will sting its opponent. Several hundred Bullet Ants live together at the base of trees in the rainforest. The Bullet ants sting is very painful. According to Justin O. Schmidt, the pain is like ”Walking over flaming charcoal with a three inch nail embedded in your heel".

Bullet Ant In The Changing World

Ants and Climate Change

Ants (Bullet Ants included) do not produce their own temperature, so the climate change will greatly affect the Bullet Ants.

The Bullet ants strengths are its stinger and its size. Since the bullet ants sting is the most painful in the world, this is a great strength. It is also a very large ant, (1.5 inches, as shown in the pictures.) which gives it a size advantage over the Ghost Ant, which is only 1.3 mm long.

Battle Plan

The bullet ants sting has been described as like being shot. It has the most painful sting in the world. So, for my battle plan against Lola's Ghost Ant, I will use my strengths against her ant...

THE PLAN

Plan

So to defeat Lola's puny Ghost Ant, I will first sting it with my stinger, and since the sting is equevilent to being shot, the ant will soon be writhing in pain, which will give my ant the advantage. Since her ant is so small, and it usually does not sting or bite, it will be easy to defeat her. Then, I will use my size to jump on top of her ant, crushing her tiny exoskeleton. Her ant will probably then start bleeding, and then I can drink her ants blood. Then I will use the ants jaws to rip the eyes out, and if the ant tries to resist, I will use my ginormo body mass to hold it down. The I will suck its guts out of its eyes, and then I will eat the whole tiny ant, like a crunchy taco shell. :)

Fun Fact!

Fun Fact

The Sateré-Mawé people of Brazil have a coming of age tradition where the men of the tribe gather bullet ants and place them in gloves, which they must wear at least 20 times in order to be considered a man/warrior. That's got to be really painful, because with the bullet ants sting, the pain lasts for 24 hours.
