Biography of Andy.
Andy is 16 years old, and is a member of a gang called "The Royals". Andy was stabbed at around 11:30 pm sometime in March by a member of a rival gang called the "Guardians". Laura was Andy's girlfriend who he hoped to marry, have kids with, and move away with. Andy was a smoker, and was stabbed while leaving his girlfriend at the jump to go get cigarettes. Andy lived in New York and hoped to move away to the Bronx or Staten Island in the future with Laura. Andy had always liked rain and had joined the Royals on a rainy day at Laura's house. Andy was never afraid of the Guardians and didn't seem to mind taking on for the team, he was proud to be part of the Royals and wear the purple silk jacket. But by the end of the story Andy realized that the jacket cost him his life, and when he died he didn't want to be noticed as a Royal he wanted to be noticed as Andy, so with his last bit of strength he took wiggled out of the jacket and died. A few minutes later Laura found him and ran to get a cop, the cop said "A Royal huh?". Laura says "His name was Andy". The cop ignores her and says "A Royal" and writes it down.
Conflict (#1/Main)
The main conflict for Andy was between him and himself because since he wore the jacket he was stabbed. And he noticed that he wasn't stabbed because he was Andy he was stabbed because of the meaningless purple jacket. So he started regretting becoming a Royal and he gives the impression that it was the worst thing he had ever done. In a way the purple jacket represents himself like he had 2 personalities, there was Andy and there was Andy the Royal, and in the end he notices Andy the Royal was meaningless and because of Andy the Royal he is now dying.
The conflict was resolved when Andy took off the jacket, he didn't want to be known as a Royal when they found him died and he wasn't proud to be one anymore. He wanted to be known as Andy when he died, and the only person that noticed was his girlfriend Laura.
Conflict (#2/Secondary)
The secondary conflict was Man vs. Man because at the beginning Andy was stabbed by a Guardian for being a Royal. The Guardian yelled "That's for you Royal!" and ran off.
The conflict was resolved when Andy took off the jacket, he no longer wanted to be a Royal and he died Andy. And the Guardian had won.
