1. Find out exactly what happened and if any injustices occured
2. Negotiation
3. Screening of people involved
4. Direct Action

-Wrote "Letter from a Birmingham Jail" in response to criticism of his choice to stand up and fight for his belief against the treatment of the African American population at the time
-Part of the non-violent American Civil Rights campaign which protested against racial segregation and the unfair and unjustice treatment of African Americans (however this fight for freedom was done solely in the courts and not in public places)
