PTSD is a is a psychological disorder caused by either experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event, often when death or the threat to ones life is involved.

War veterans, rape victims, car crash victims, and child abuse victims are all highly susceptible to developing PTSD. The risk is increased exponentially if the ability of the body to react to stress with the regulation of released chemicals and hormones is off and the victim is prone to inheriting high anxiety or depression.

There is no specific cure to PTSD, but therapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing have

been proven to lessen the symptoms.

DSM Says...

Fiona

When Fiona was a small child, she had a curse put on her, making her turn into an ogre at night.

This horror made her unable to express her feelings to Shrek and was depressed for years.

After consulting with Donkey, she is able to overcome her symptoms.
