William Higinbotham

William Higinbotham invented the game called Tennis for two, but it eventually evolved into Pong. William was born on October 25, 1910. He passed away on November 10, 1994.

Tennis For Two

Tennis for two was a sports video game developed in 1958. It simulates a game of tennis, hitting a button back and forth, but now its called Pong.

Job

William Higinbotham was an American physicist. A member of the team that developed the first nuclear bomb, he later became a leader in the nonproliferation movement.

  • William went to Williams College in 1932 and also went to Cornell University
  • People called him the "Grandfather of Video Games."
  • Was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut but grew up in Caledonia, New York
