Which of these would make you the most nervous?

A. If I told you you were taking a test for me today on the material we have learned so far in Coping Cat that I am scanning home to your parents at the end of class.

B. If I told you that you would be having a meeting with of the kids here at school that has not been so nice to you.

C. If I said that at least two of you are in trouble for something you have done here at school today, and I will talk about who in a minute.

D. If I told you that I set up a surprise visit today from Ms. Garafola to see each one of you act out the FEAR steps.

Using the situation that you picked, draw and write a cartoon strip showing how you would cope.

Now we'll role play...

Remember to really dig down deep and use the FEAR steps:

Feeling afraid? Begin balloon breathing and muscle relaxation as soon as you feel the first hint from your body (racing heart, stomach butterflies, faster breathing, nausea...)

Expecting Bad things to happen? What are they? Have they ever happened before? What are the chances of them happening now? I need to tell myself coping thoughts, and tell myself that I can get through this.

Actions and Attitudes: What am I going to do? I am going to come up with two or three ideas. I will ask myself how I will feel about each one, go through what I think will happen for each one, and then choose the best one for me.

Results and Rewards: What happened as a result of my choice? Was it what I wanted? If it was, how will I reward myself? If it wasn't the outcome I still need to be kind to myself and reward the effort.
