Am I bucking authority in my life?
Members submit to their leaders
Submission is not:
- being an omega
- being a demanding dictator
- manipulating
- mindless obedience
- meaning you can't disagree but still come under authority anyways
- At home--husbands and wives submit to each other
- Work--submit to boss
- School--teachers
- Play--coach and refs
- God's authority--putting God off
- Government--bad mouthing PM?
- Church--all in with the vision? Willing to serve, Reach beyond, Let leaders lead?
Submission:
Means to yield...a term that describes a willingness to lay down our defenses...to not resist anymore.
- To His Father's Will--Luke 22:42
- To Government--He paid taxes--Matt.17:24-27
We should be under authority because Jesus was.
- To his parents--Luke 2:52
1st and foremost submit ourselves to God;
James 4:7--Submit yourselves then to God...
Commitment:
I will submit to God directed authority in my life.
Members are to Obey their Leaders
The way we submit to God is by coming under God given authority
Obey=Persuaded to obey the leaders example
Romans 13:1-2
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for their is no authority except that which God has established...he who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.
Both church members and church leaders have a part to play in submission.
I don't just go to church, I am the church
Members are to make leading a joy.
Leaders: Lead while being led
Burden=groaning or sighing
Having Difficulty Submitting?
Solution=PRAY
- Pray for your leaders
- ask God to help you submit
- ask God to change your attitude
Ephesians 5:24
Your motivation to make your leaders life joyful...it's good for you!
Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands.
Are you willing to Submit to God?
- Stop resisting Jesus
- Come under the authority he has placed in your life.
