I believe that children become adults based off their brain maturity. Children are most likely to fully mature in their early twenties. You have to consider that children are driving at the age of sixteen even though their brain isn't fully grown.
Even though some people think that children become adults when they are old enough to do certain things, (drive, going to work and etc.) think about the children and teenagers who use their emotions over their rational thinking to create and make important decisions.
Today, within society, teenagers and rising adults are very premature. Also, they are not even close to their brains being fully grown by the time they can drive, have a job and etc.
Teenagers and rising adults are adolscent in society today in comparison to adults and family members before them. "According to Mandatory Service to Become an Adult", by Michael Thompson, it says, " Researchers and observers have noted that while our children are getting brighter... they are relatively immature for their ages in comparison to earlier generations."
The rational part of a teenagers brain does not fully grow until their early twenties. They think with the emotional part of the brain. Adults think differently than teenagers, according to The University of Rochester Medical Center, it says," The rational part of a teen’s brain isn’t fully developed and won’t be until he or she is 25 years old or so. In fact, recent research has found that adult and teen brains work differently. Adults think with the prefrontal cortex, the brain’s rational part, but teens process information with the amygdala, the emotional part. "

We should let children get out more and socialize with people so they will not be anti-social within society. We should have children interact with people so they can be independent but can work with others.
Adulthood is when children can be independent but can socialize with others. It is when young adults can make decisions on their own based on rational reasons. Adulthood is when children are not so naive and inexperienced with the world.
