Oil

Oil is a viscous liquid derived from petroleum. Oil is used for transportation fuels, fuel oils for heating and electricity generation, asphalt and road oil, and the feedstock used to make chemicals, plastics, and synthetic materials.

"BP raised its reserve estimate by 1.1% to 1,687.9 billion barrels, which is enough oil to last the world 53.3 years at the current production rates. However, there's likely a lot more oil left in the tank beyond what BP sees today."

Phosphorus

Coal

Phosphorus is the chemical element of atomic number 15, a poisonous, combustible nonmetal that exists in two common allotropic forms. Phosphorus is used in soft drinks and to create many phosphate compounds, such as triple superphosphate fertilizer. Trisodium phosphate is used as a cleaning agent and as a water softener. Phosphorus is essential to all living things; like the creation of DNA, cell membranes, and for bone and teeth formation in humans. Without Phosphorus there would be no more humans.

Coal is a sedimentary rock composed of altered plant debris. Its principal uses are for fueling steam power plants, as a source of coke for smelting metals, for space heating ,and industrial process heating. Synthetic gas and oil are manufactured from coal on a large scale

There is a large amount of coal left enough for maybe 200 years but it is buried too deep below the ground. Trying to get it would be dangerous and cost more than what you would make. Sources say we may have 50 to 100 years of coal left.

If we do not start conserving soon the Earth will have to colonize a new planet.

Background

An infinite amount of resources is ideal, but not realistic. The earth only has a limited amount of resources and one day they will be depleted.

The resources that are going to be discussed about are: Coal, Oil, Phosphorus, and water.

Water is a colorless, transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid that forms the seas, lakes, rivers, and rain and is the basis of the fluids of living organisms. We use water to drink, do the dishes, take a shower, flush the toilet, cook diner and for many other purposes. But water is not only used for domestic purposes, humans also use water in the industries and in agriculture. With a planet that is made up of 70% of water only 3% of it is drinkable and less than 1% is the water we drink everyday, the rest is lost in the ice caps of Antarctica.

Purpose

Pictures

The purpose of this project is to inform people about the problem that Earths resources are being depleted and to get them to understand and help conserve them.

How To Conserve Resources

To conserve resources we can reduce our intake of things, for example by reducing our use of non-renewable oil and coal to give us energy and electricity, society can make less air pollution. By doing that society will also be saving our oil and coal which means society would still have more to use. You could keep on one section of lights at a time to not use so much energy, or close the door when the air conditioner is on . Society could also recycle more

Problem

The world does not have enough resources which will result in the human race having to make a critical decision. We as the human race need to start thinking about this and start conserving our resources.

How To Conserve Resources pt 2

Conclusion

The world is running out of resources and if we do not start conserving them the human race will not be what it is today. We will not be able to live with out the resources we have today. If we follow the ways on how to conserve the resources then we can expand our amount of time we have left. If we conserve our resources then we can all live normally without any problems or worry.

To save energy you could unplug appliances that are used infrequently or seasonally,

To save fuel you can set a one-mile rule. Rather than drive, you can walk or bike for errands within a mile of your home. To conserve water resources, first fix any leaks. You can also upgrade older plumbing fixtures to Water Sense-labeled ones. In the article, fifty years ago, world population was below three billion. It now exceeds seven billion. And by 2050 it’s projected to be between 8.5 and ten billion, Earth's population will be forced to colonise two planets within 50 years if natural resources continue to be exploited at the current rate
