Early Life

• Born Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary on April 21, 1926
• She was not born the heir apparent as her father was the second son
• Had one younger sister, Margaret Rose
• when her grandfather died her uncle was only king for six months, fell in love with an american and abdicated

Marriage and Family

• Married Philip Mountbatten in November 20, 1947
• Has been married for 64 years
• Has four children, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild

Accession to the throne

• On the 6 February, 1952, while in Kenya she received the news that her father had died
• Her coronation was in June at Westminister Abbey
• It was the first coronation to be broadcast on television

Some Achievements

She is the second longest reigning Monarch in British history, the first being Queen Victoria.

In 1957, the Queen on her official visit to the United States, became the first monarch to open the nation's Parliament.

In 1965 was the first monarch to tour Germany since WWI
