QUADRATIC EQUATION

QUADRATIC

EQUATION

Quadratic or not. Solve for the roots of the each equation.

1. x²-3x-4 = 0.

2. (x+1)²=0

3. 11= 2x²

4. 9x- 1= 0

5. 4x²-1=0

The Standard Form of Quadratic Equation is:

ax²+bx+c =0

In the equation ax²+bx+c =0 , ax² is the

quadratic term, bx is the linear term,

and c is the constant term.

Example of Quadratic equation in the form of ax²+bx+c =0

  • x² + x – 4 = 0
  • x² -3x - 2 = 0
  • x² +18x+80 = 0

is an equation of the second degree, meaning it contains at least one term that is squared.

Where a, b and c

are real numbers

and a ≠ 0.

Example of Quadratic equation in the form of ax²+c =0

  • 2x²-10 = 0
  • 3x²+ 1=0
  • -10+5x =0
  • 11x= -9
  • 4x+5=0

When b=0 in the equation ax²+bx+c =0, it

results to a quadratic equation of

the form ax²+c =0
