  • The tundra spreads across the far Northern islands and coasts
  • Most of Canada is covered in Coniferous forest
  • Filled with cedar, fir, pine and spruce trees
  • Southeastern Canada contains Mixed forests.

Climate

  • Most of Canada has either a Tundra or Subarctic climate.
  • The coast of British Columbia is Marine West Coast

Physical Features

  • Canadian shield covers almost half of Canada
  • Large core of very old rock that lies at the base of each continent
  • Was exposed and scraped away when the glaciers moved.
  • Left a thin layer of soil and moved the soil to the great plains in the United States

Physical Geography

  • The rest contains islands, plains and mountains
  • Glaciers scraped the shield and created the Great Lakes
  • About 2 million smaller lakes throughout Canada
  • St. Lawrence River connects the Atlantic Ocean and the Great Lakes
  • The region extends past the Arctic Circle and ends with a scattering of islands.
