Non-participants ain't participating in dodge ball activity. This could be because of their time management, being busy with socialising, working, technology (PSP, PS4, XBox, Computers etc), too cool, lack of facilities, parents influences toward sport is negative, family not active, role models, negative recognition from players, negative fame or social states,

we did not investigate issues around the physical activity needs or interests of the target group ???. we did not know that they wanted to be active but it was decided that it will be good for them because its the way to get fit and its not a main stream sport and that it will increase our participation in school sports. The target group had no voice in this decision as our aim was to get their participation in the activity and improve their well-beings. We did not know what our target members of the non-participants can do or can not do, what they are already involved in, or what they like doing, this is because our aim was to get as much non-participants as possible active and looked at factors that can influence participation, such as get active, have fun, enjoyable, socially, friendship, way to get fit and healthy, meet new friends, passion, addicted and challenges , so we did not really looked at what they can do or can not do. discussions and considerations of how members of the group understanding their rights and needs, and my attitudes and understandings towards the target group and their needs were considered and thought that surveys had to be done, meetings with target group at an assembly, debrief had to be done at the end of each dodge ball activity and random discussions with the target group (NP).
The selected group that I think would benefit from my support to participate in this physical activity was the senior students that did not participate in a school sport or physical activity. I could work with a group of non- participants senior students, I would want to work with this group because I myself was a non-participants so each of them would need my support to participate in this physical activity as I am an experienced athlete but I just don't participate in a school sport this year as I am giving others an opportunity to participate in a school 1st 11 football team and I am involved in a football club teams. My support would be an encouragement to them and that getting active is the key to a physical and spiritual well-being, emotional/metal and healthy life and I know that they need my support because me getting involve in the activity and show my enjoyment they're likely to do the same.
Possible courses of action that I could take to encourage my target group's participation in physical activity would be to presenting a multiple-sport that every one would have a choice of participating in a chosen activity, not just a one activity that will soon get bored to some participants, because attending just one activity will get bored unless you're really into it, so I would prefer a multiple-sports. Another course of action that I would to take to encourage my target group's participation in physical activity would be to only get non-participants active and introduce them to some sports and they're our target, rather than running an activity to all seniors.
The target group was our non sport participants students to influence them into physical activity. we decided this activity without asking our target (non-participants) because the class thought it as an easy activity to get our participants active as well as it is enjoyable and fun to most students. I also thought that this will increase the participants in our school sport since the school only have 66% of students participating in school sport while the school is known as a sport school to most people so the question is, what are the 44% doing?.
The action I decided to follow was dodge ball because after running a trail on the yr13s only dodge ball game on Thursday 20th at lunch-time, I thought the participation was good because all 4 house teams (Colgan, Bean, Paton, Henry) had enough players but there wasn't enough non-participation that participated, this issue was because of exams that was on and/or no enough motivation and desire for participants. If I were to do it again I would minimise the barriers, that the target participants gets enough motivation and desire, and not run a physical activity on an exam week (s). Also maximise the enablers by motivating participants through benefits of physical activities, physiological benefits, psychological benefits and social benefits.
The action competency learning process I think worked well in terms of influencing our target to participate in physical activity because the first week that we ran the activity we had enough participants to form four teams but a huge crowd, so I think the next weeks of this activity we will have a huge participants because the crowd will also want to participate in the activity as the crown seemed to have enjoyed themselves watching dodge ball and some of them were throwing the ball too, therefore more non-participants that we will see. For example, the second evaluation of Thursday 27th lunch-time dodge ball game where there was 14 non-participants, an improvement of 2 non-participants students compared to the first evaluation I did on 20th dodge ball game of 12 non-participants.
My recommendations to how the process could be improved to promote a sustainable, healthy students and environments is to provide a survey, meeting with a target group at an assembly, debrief at the end of dodge ball games and random discussions with non-participants.
Last six weeks our year 13 P.E. class ran a senior physical activity (dodge ball) for both non-participation (NP) and students that participates in a physical activity within the school, the target group was non-participate senior students, I thought this was a great idea because it will encourage the NP to participate in a physical activity as it is good for them because it improves a physical and mental health, economic development, family bonding, environmental awareness and so on and I would also like to encourage more students to get involved in getting active and this can lead to more senior students joining any of our high school sports without any barriers. I followed the action competency learning process in order to plan, action and evaluate our activity to influence participation in physical activity. We had few ideas on which activity to present, such as multi-sports, soccer, basketball, kelston touch, rugby league and dodge ball. The main physical activity we decided to present and focused on was dodge ball.
