The theme of Poetic Justice is to not take love for granted, and that you should cherish every moment of it. Love needs to be unbiased and strong.
Kendrick uses the paradox "if a flower bloomed in a dark room would you trust it (Lamar 13)?" This line is important because nobody can see her for who she is but Kendrick, and he is the only one who sees her true beauty. It is also impossible for a flower to live inside of a room without light. A plant needs sunlight in order to produce chlorophyll and food in order for the plant to live.
Kendrick Lamar Duckworth, who performs as Kendrick Lamar, was born in Compton, California, on June 17, 1987. After writing stories as a child, he put to music some lyrics about the rough Compton streets he grew up on. He rapped under the name K-Dot, releasing a series of increasingly popular mixtapes, which brought him to the attention of hip-hop super-producer Dr. Dre. Lamar's debut major-label recording, good kid, m.A.A.d City, was released to great acclaim and impressive sales for an up-and-coming recording artist.
Kendrick uses paradoxes, Metaphor, and Allusion in order to convey how much he cares for his love.

Kendrick is trying to show his love that he is new and fresh, while other men are just the same old. He says that other men try to "approach her with [an] Atari"(Lamar 19). The boys are just unoriginal and unwanted while he is a PS4.
Allusion to the popular statement Love is blind. Kendrick uses the statement "right before you go blind" (Lamar 72) to tie together the theme of love and how you should cherish the love you have, that is present in this verse. he’s referencing the common phrase “justice is blind,” meaning that truth and justice will be meted out without bias.
"Poetic justice" is basically a combination of all the poems Kendrick wrote to his love. Kendrick explains that "[his girlfriend is] in the mood for empathy [and that] there's blood in [his] pen (Lamar 23)," he is saying that all of his poems are a part of him and that he digs deep to give them meaning.
The tone of "Poetic Justice" is a serious and loving tone. He seems depressed during part of the song; Kendrick is looking for his girlfriend to love and accept him.

Kendrick is expressing himself to his past loves, and he is explaining how he messed up. He also explains what he has to do in order to fix the issues at hand.
