My tribe name is the Caddo, it means 'real chief'. Also Texas is a Caddoan word that means 'Those how are friends'.
The lived around present day Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. But moved to eastern Texas about 1000 years ago and lived there for a long time.
In 1902 the Caddo got moved to a reservation in Oklahoma. Now most of them live near Binger, Oklahoma.
The Caddos lived in giant grass huts and I'm talking big.
The caddos were manly farmers since they lived in eastern Texas, so there was fertile soil and they got a lot of rain. They raised beans, corn squash and pumpkins. They also did hunt a lot of deer, turkey, squirrels, and rabbits. They also farmed beans, corn squash and pumpkins.
The Caddo tribe was not a warrior tribe at all. They were mostly peaceful farmers but when the french and the spanish came over, they sided with the french. They did a lot of trading with the french.
Since the Caddo were farmers they used a wide range of tools like stone axes and knives. Also the used hoes made from tree branches and the jaws from different animals.
Since the caddos were friendly, they manly used there weapons for hunting. Like a lot of tribes they used the bow and arrow. They made there arrow
heads
out of
flint or iron. One
of their cool
weapons/tool is the tomahawk
which is
basically a
small axe.
The woman usually wore skirts, poncho tops made form deer hide. The men usually wore buffalo robes and they cut their hair into a mohawk.
