Moana returns to Te Ka and tries to fight her alone before Maui joins her. She has an epiphany and realizes Te Ka is actually Te Fiti. She risks her life to replace the heart to the demon demigod.
Moana and Maui reach Te Ka and try to defeat her. They fail and are both weak. They give up and Moana is left alone, but then she sees her grandmother and realizes what she must do.
Since Moana and Maui have succesfully steal back Maui's hook. They now have hope and a chance to defeat Te Ka.
Moana and Maui formulate a plan to restore the islands by replacing a sacred heart to its rightful owner.
Moana learns to defend herself and sail. She faces her fear while her and Maui were trying to steal back his hook from Tamatoa.
Moana teams up with a demigod named Maui to save the island. Now in the special world she encounters other demigods, bandits, and challenges with the ocean.

Moana commits to helping her people and island because her grandmother dies. Before her grandmother dies, she tells Moana to leave and help the island.

Moana is conflicted with her role on the island. She wants to go beyond the island, but being the chiefs daughter she is to perform other tasks. She feels stressed about who she is.
The island is dying because of a curse that causes the fish and fruit to die. Moana is still forbidden to leave the island to find a solution.
