I think that the author's purpose was to inform because the book was about the ocean and what lives there and there was a large quantity of facts and dates related to the topic. The whole book was aut the world's oceans and what lurked in its depths. The book also gave information and facts about what was the cause and effect of humanity and the ocean.
There are all kinds of creatures that lives in earth's oceans. It turns out that there is so much history of the earth and of humanity in the ocean such as how the ocean changes the earth's continents through a process called sea- floor spreading. Much of our natural resources and scientific knowledge comes from the ocean. There are thousand upon thousands of different species that live in the ocean.
The title Ocean relates to my book because my book is about the ocean and its plant life. The book is about all the sea creatures that live there and how the ocean changed through history and the changes that humanity did to the ocean. The book has fun facts about the ocean and what humanity's resources from it. That is why the title Ocean fits this wonderful book.

The most interesting part of the book was when it started describing the sea creatures, especially the creatures that live in the deep part of the ocean (twilight zone). In the twilight zone, there are angler fish, gulper eels, giant squid, and so much more. I learned so much from this section such as an angler fish can stretch its stomach so it can intake a huge meal. I also learned that the females are extraordinarily larger than male angler fish.
What I liked least about the book was when
it started to describe what man did to the ocean. This included the oil rigs man put into the ocean. These rigs were huge and most of it was underwater. To get oil from the ocean, you would have to drill into the sea rock to get the oil, thus destroying the ocean. Since the rigs are flammable and if it caught on fire, a lot of people could die, but they have improved safety precautions.
I would rank this a book on a scale of 1-10 a seven because there are exceedingly interesting facts however, it would be convenient for me, personally if the author put in more information about the topic. I would recommend this book to young people who are interested in perhaps becoming a marine biologist or anyone who wants to learn about the different sea life because if they would read this book, they would become more knowledgeable in the topic. I would also recommend this book to one of my friends who is interested in becoming a marine biologist.
Text To Text: Some books that I've read that have connections to Ocean are The Digestion System, Mummies, The Circulatory System, and The Nervous System. These books are all Eyewitness books and they are all also nonfiction. They all provided facts that interested me and they are all about the same page count.
Text To Self: This book relates to myself because some of my favorite animals are in this book and I enjoyed learning more about them.
Text To World: The book talks about how modernized we became in the world to find what is in the ocean and our exploration machinery.
