Aftermath

  • Only 33 minutes after his speech, the declaration of war was approved and signed.
  • There was only one opposing vote out of the 471 people in the House of Representatives and Senate.
  • Roosevelt going to serve his 4th term but died right before Germany surrendered.
  • Bombed Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 and Nagasaki on August 9, 1945.
  • Japan surrendered on September 2, 1945.
