Airspace

A great component of sectional charts is airspace. Each airspace has its own specific types of rules and regulations, therefore it is very important to know what airspace they are flying through.

VFR SECTIONAL CHARTS

Obstacles

What is a VFR sectional chart?

A VFR sectional chart is an aeronautical chart designed for pilots flying under visual flight rules. This chart displays important information that pilots need to know while in route to their destination such as: radio frequencies, airspace, topography, visual checkpoints, and much more.

Features and Information

The scale used for a VFR sectional chart is 1:500,000. This means 1 inch is equivalent to 6.86 nautical miles.

These charts are revised semiannually.

Each chart contains an legend key. A pilot should refer to this key when looking at the chart so he or she knows what the symbols are relaying.
