Be on time

When you have a job, you have to be on time, if you are late, other people have to do your job. If you are late too many times your boss will get mad and might fire you.

Showing up on time, shows your boss that you care about your job.

Be respectful

How can I be respectful when I'm working at Goodwill?

  • Make eye contact
  • Say "yes mam", "yes sir."

When a customer enters the store, you want them to feel comfortable so that they will buy someting in the store. Greeting customers when they enter the store helps them feel more comfortable.

Some good greetings that you can use are:

  • Hello, welcome to Goodwill.
  • Hello, how are you?

Make sure you make the customer know that they are there, you can do this by....

Be honest

If you break something, or do something wrong, it is extremely important that you tell the manager or a teacher what you did

What is the opposite of honesty?

This is a training experience!

The opposite of honesty is lying.

Can you trust someone who lies all the time?

This semester you will be going to Goodwill to work!

It's hard to trust someone who lies all the time because you never know when to believe them.

When you get a job, your boss is paying you money to be there, if you lie, your boss will become very unhappy with you

If you do something wrong, it's best to be honest and fess up. Your boss will be much less angry with you than if he or she finds out about it later from someone else.

You will not get paid! This is a learning experience for you so that you can learn what it takes to get and keep a job.

Work hard!

When your boss gives you a job to do, work as hard as you can to get the job done.

When you work hard, you feel good about yourself.

When you work hard, your boss notices too. If you work hard enough, you might get promoted which means you make more money!
