The End

Freedom can't be taken away!

Last Words

If this Duty of respecting others distinctions existed back then, none of that brutality against colored

people would of happened. Yes it's true we learn from our own mistakes, and probably what I just

wrote doesn't make sense sense, even today exists such Racism, probably will always exist. What's

important is that we focus of teaching whats right to the future us, never forget what happen in the past, and fight

to never let it happen again.

Joana Rodrigues

Their land was taken away, and left with nothing

they learn that freedom is about having dignity. The land can be taken, but freedom can't be taken away

from you.

Further in the book...

The book is their adventure to find

peace and a new life in Georgia, in Pascal's words: “Mama used to say joy was peace dancing, and

peace was joy resting. We be having both joy and peace.” they dreamed of the day they could be free.

Further into the book, they get to Georgia, they are given land and plant cotton, but not a mule, everything

seems great, until the President is assassinated.

Journey to Freedom

A slave 12 year old disabled boy, named Pascal, along with his older brother Gideon and a friend, travel off to seek Georgia, with the news that they could have a piece of land and maybe a mule, that

they were no longer slaves and President Lincoln had freed them.

The Story inside the book

The story of this book “Forty Acres and Maybe a Mule” is of a true reality that sadly happened not to long

ago during the reconstruction period in America, and shows the brutality of slavery, not even freed did the

slaves had freedom. The book is a window to human shame, and the truth of racism.

Joana Rodrigues

Racism

The theme of my presentation is about Racism, we have the duty to respect others even if they

are of a different race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, disability or any other

distinction.

While Reading...

While reading it I learned a lot about American history, the sorrow and

fear that a lot of people suffered, because their skin was of a darker color, but most importantly

the true meaning of freedom.

Reason Behind my choice

Forty Acres and Maybe a Mule

The reason I wished to do a presentation based on this book, is because it touched me a lot.

I read it when I was in 6th Grade, and was the first and only book that made me cry, and I did

read a lot of books.
