Pinnacle Programme | Application Letter
Transcript of Pinnacle Programme | Application Letter
Grace Bella Wiegand
I'm a teenage girl who is fortunate enough to live in sunny Nelson. I attend Nelson College for Girls and would love to become a part of the pinnacle program.
Three words my friends use to describe me:
Creative, Vibrant & Innovative
"Art is such a big part of my life. I've been drawing since I've been able to hold a pencil, and I can vividly remember telling adults I wanted to be an artist when I grow up. Well, nothing's changed!"
Some examples of my work. I have been drawing digitally for 2 years and am completely self taught.
Some more art -this time traditional!
"Throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the wind in your sails -explore, dream, discover."
My Favourite things
I also enjoy music and play guitar for a band which placed 3rd in our local Bandquest.
I have an extremely great interest in films and drama. Acting has always been a strength for me and at the age of 7 I was the lead role of a musical production in Wellington. In more recent times I have undertaken a directing course and will be working with the community to produce a show in December.
Although art is my greatest passion, I enjoy other things too.
Science, specifically physics, has always fascinated me and I am taking the NCEA Science exams a year earlier than most. I am also proud to say that I was the only girl from my whole school to be awarded the ICAS Distinction.
Next year I will be undertaking a GATE program that my school has introduced. Only a small group of selected students get to work on extension mathematics problems, and I am one of those people.
Why am I applying for Pinnacle?
Because it's perfect for me. When I first heard of this opportunity, I could hardly believe it. I always want to challenge myself, meet new people and have an experience of a lifetime. Why wouldn't I want to be a part of Pinnacle? The opportunity to be mentored in my chosen subject will allow me to develop as an artist, boosting my confidence in my skills as well as developing them further. I know that I love art and can definitely see myself making a career from it in the future, and with an art teacher I will be another step closer to reaching this goal.
Animation is a really fun and I love seeing my artwork come to life. I've never been taught anything about animating but managed to figure enough out to produce the following videos, feel free to watch them by clicking below.
To whomever it may concern,
This is my letter.

I believe I should be a part of Pinnacle as I am an enthusiastic Kiwi kid who loves to take on challenges. Having a mentor to help me develop my illustration and painting skills will help me grow as both an artist and a person. And -excuse the bad pun- this assistance is what can ultimately help me reach the pinnacle of my abilities, and be the very best I can be.
