Sto. Tomas is the youngest & smallest town, in the entire province of Pampanga. It has a total land area of around 1,467 hectares.

The municipality has grown having seven barangays, namely Moras dela Paz, Sto. Rosario Pau, San Matias, Poblacion, San Bartolome, San Vicente and Sto. Nino de Sapa. San Matias has the largest area representing about one third of the municipal area.

INDUSTRY

The chief industries of the town are ceramics, carpentry, trading, agriculture, and casket manufacture. In the records of Department of Trade and Industry (Philippines), the town holds the title “Casket Capital of Central Luzon”.

LOCATION

Sto.Tomas is strategically located at the heart of the Province of Pampanga. The capital town of San Fernando bounds it on the northwest, the municipality of San Simon in the North-east, the municipality of Minalin in the south-east, and Bacolor in the west. The municipality is part of the fourth congressional district of Pampanga. 

Baliwag

was the traditional name of Sto. Tomas. It was christened after Sto. Tomas Apostol. The town was named Baliwag (tardy in Spanish) because the towns people were always late in attending mass.
