Duckweed Experiment

Iv:Oil gets put in water

Dv:duckweed will not grow

Constants:

-amount of water

-light/temp

-type of water

Hypothesis:Oils gets put in water then duckweed will not grow because of the amount of oil.

Experimental question:will the duckweed grow depending on the amount of oil?

iv groups:10%,20%,30%

control:10% of oil.

Duckweed is a free-floating aquatic plant that grows in both still and running freshwater, such as lakes, rivers, and streams. Contrary to what one might expect from the name, no ducks are involved in the growth habits of the plant, although ducks undoubtedly feed on it when they find it growing. Depending on the circumstances, duckweed can be an extremely invasive species, or a welcomed aquatic plant.

Conclusion

This experiment tested how the duckweed grew in oil. We took 3 cups and put water and oil into each cup. Each cup had a certain amount of oil. The first cup had 10%, the second cup had 20%, and the last cup had 30%of oil in it. Every one of my Iv groups went down. My data luckily supported my hypothesis because, whenever i put the oil in the water the duckweed stopped growing. One way that i would change the experiment would to try a different type of oil. Another way I would change the experiment is to try a different type of water. Luckily i didn't experience any problem's while doing my experiment.
