Wet Wipe Crisis

A consumer activist organization found 1/10 of the formaldehyde permitted in cosmetics in Huggies wet wipes, and were outraged.

How wipes made a HUGE mess

baby

yeah...1/10

Wishful thinking

In the United States

According to The Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs Korean people consider 2.54 children per family to be the ideal birthrate. In reality the birthrate for Korea is 1.19 children per family. This is by choice and often has to do with financial burdens including private education and child care.

Only in recent years have chemicals in household products become something of a concern in America.

We seem to be more lenient when it comes to toxicity levels and we certainly care less about chemicals being present when they are BELOW THE LEGAL LIMIT.

News travels fast

Korea has an 80% use rate when looking at internet networks, and a top class IT infrastructure which means that opinions are communiated quickly and effectivley via the internet.

KOREA:

Yuhan-Kimberly's safe wet wipes will continue to serve newborns. Safety, health, & family is what we do. #historyspeaksforitself (111 WC)

  • Because the average birthrate is so much lower than the ideal birthrate parents are very protective of their kids. (stated in the chapter.)
  • Marketed as baby wipes
  • Private school is one of the only options and certainly a preferred option for parents as success plays a huge role in society.
  • Childcare is really expensive and financial restraints limit families from having too many children.
  • While we are not negligent or worse parents, in the United States we tend to be slightly more lenient when it comes to chemicals in our household products, we love bleach!!
  • Marketed as cosmetic wipes
  • Public schools are, on average, a legitimate option for parents when looking for an education for their children.
  • While child care is not necessarily affordable, it is more obtainable and the family income is less of a factor when it comes to family models.
