German Unification Timeline Events

Fall of Bismark

William the 2st the gandson of William the 1st oppsed Bismark they thought over many diffrent thing but a vensly Bismark was fouced to rezine

In order to divide up the land that taken over during the war, Prussia took Schleswig and Austria took Holstein. This way each alli benefited from the war. 1864

Bismark tricked Napoleon the third into declaring war on Prussia. This led to the Franco Prussian War, where Prussia Defeated France. This made Prussia a superior power to France but also in western Europe. 1870-1871

The start of German Unification

The Revolution of 1848

It consisted of 13 main states, Prussia being the strongest, and 39 other smaller states and their wish to be unified as one whole country

The Revolution of 1848 was caused by hard times in continent. This led to the revolution. Also later in the decade there was economic depression which hurt industrial expansion. Crop failures were also a problem which led to a famine. This also led to alot of riots

German states with ease could trade between each other. Other countries would have to pay more money to trade with the German states.

Denmark took over the German states of Schleswig and Holstein. Prussia and Austria declared war on Denmark. Austria and Prussia beat Denmark and retook the lost territories. 1864

after the Franco Prussian war the northern and southern German states unified under king William the first 1st king of Prussia and became the German Empire, and the new main power in cencrial Eurpoe.

Austria and Prussia both ran their territories differently. Each country felt that they were running the government wrong. Therefore they both went to war with each other. This war lasted 7 weeks, hence its name. Prussia won the war and replaced Austria as the main power in central Europe. 1866
