Tasmanian devils are scavengers and predators. They
mainly eat meat , but a T-Devil's diet also encludes: bugs,
frogs, lizards, eggs and chicks. Tasmanian devils can
also eat ripe fruit and seeds, and some have been seen
snacking on rubber boots, shotgun shells, and flashlight
batteries! Basically, T-Devils can eat almost anything
because their digestive systems are resistant to disease
causing bacteria.
As tough as they are, T-devils are endangered. The Tasmanian
devil is a protected specie, but they have mysterious
changes in their population. In 1976, the number of devils
dropped so low that sightings of their tracks were rare. In 1982,
the T-devils seemed to come back but in 1990, the numbers of Tasmanian devils began to drop again. Nobody knows why this happens, but we can protect where the Devils live-Cradle Mountain-
to make sure that the Tasmanian devil doesn't become extinct.

The Life of a T-Devil
TASMANIAN DEVILS
Tasmanian devils are born no bigger than a grain of rice. They live in
their mother's pouch for 15 weeks before coming out into the world. The
T-devils then live with their mother for about another 15 weeks before
they are complety on their own. Unfortunately, only 1 out of 10 devils will
reach adulthood because of disease and accidents, but mostly, it is because
of other devils!
Tasmanian devils live a rough life. They are their own worst enemy, so
devils will fight other devils for food or for defending themselves. Most devils
don't usually fight. Instead they show threats to their enemies. But if threats
don't do the trick, than real combat starts.
Where The Devils Live
Tasmanian devils live in Tasmania, a heart-shaped island 120 miles off the coast of Australia. Here devils roam through the cool rain forest, which is covered by giant gum trees and jagged hills. T-devils are nocturnal, and hunt in the night.
