Life in Italy
- Battle of the Births were what women used as a way to gain more tax privileges for their families.
- Mussolini believed since Italy was had a relatively small population, therefore there needed to be more children to increase the population.
- This was a way to make Italy as strong and intimidating as possible.
- however, with the birth of more children and better medical care; the plan failed. in fact, the birth rate decreased between 1927 and 1934.
Mussolini's reign
- Most dictators are known to be terrorizing and dangerous people but Mussolini did do some good deeds for Italy.
- He reclaimed the land for Italy and helped rebuild Italy as the nation it is now.
- And gave money to steel and iron production factories.
- However, he had terrible and vicious aspects to him.
- Freedom was not even thought of in Italy at the time of his reign
- Universities were watched very closely and teachers had to wear uniforms and education the youth on the glories of the Fascist party.
- Itally was a complete totalitarian government in order for Italy to look as glorious, powerful as possible.

- Founder of Fascism
- Creator and supreme rank of first Marshal in Italy
- He had a son with Ida Dolser
- At different times after 1922, he took over interior and exterior foreign affairs, colonies, defence and public works.
- He had a cult and persusaive personality
- He has stabbed around 100 people in places like arms and hands.
- He was good friends with Hitler and made some decisions due to his fascist rules.
Military Background
- Initially, Mussolini was a socialist journalist in 1904 but his support for Italy in world war one, made him stop journalism. He was then drafted into the Italian army in 1915.
- 1919, Benito Mussolini formed the fascist party. He used his strategy of organizing jobless war veterans and making them wear black shirt; terrorizing anyone who came in their way. which resulted in the coalition government.

Political Chaos in Italy
- Around that time, Italy was gradually facing political downfall and Mussolini marched around with his Black Shirts, in representation as the most capable of running Italy. His chance finally came when King Victor Emmanuel invited to form a government.
- However, he treated the big promotion as a way of re-establishing Italy into an empire. by him gradually dismantling any institutions or co-operations that did not give Italy a strong name.
- Then, he renamed himself "Il Duce" meaning the Dictator.
