Japan has a score of 71.8 and is ranked 24 in total economic freedom while Brazil is ranked 100 with a score of 57.7. Japans rule of law is high at 80% while Brazils is lower. Both of their open markets are low with Japans average tariff rate at 1.6% and Brazils is at 7.6%. Both of thier regulatory efficincy is unven.

Japnanese trade barriers include tariff rate quotas. border policies to protect food processing industries and strict government control and bureaucracy. Brazilian trade barriers include tariffs, MERCOSUR trade ade agreement, requires import licenses and many other regulationas to promote local insutries.
