Oxford interviews

For undergraduate students...

An Oxford interview is an academic interview, not a general discussion about your interests and abilities

Applications are considered on an academic basis alone: the University does not select students for extra-curricular achievements, sporting ability or leadership

Admissions are so competitive that even with excellent grades, a place is not guaranteed

  • Challenge even the best students
  • Require independent initiative
  • Reward logical, critical, and lateral thinking (not memorising)

Oxford offers some 220 courses

  • Last at least 3 years, culminating in a Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree
  • Provide a focused programme of study
