What the Lotis Blue Butterfly eat

The Lotis Blue Butterfly mostly eats nectar from flowers and they also suck the juice from fruits and plants.

The butterfly is small with about the wingspan is about 1 inch.The males wings have upper wings that are deep violet-blue with a black border and white scales on the outer wing. The females wings are brown or bluish-brown with a wavy band of orange near the outer wing. The males and the females both have grayish-white undersides scattered with black spots.

The Lotis Blue Butterflies life span is in three parts first its the egg stage, next the cattepilar stage(also known as larva stage), at last is the hatch of the butterfly.

The Lotis Blue Butterfly has not been seen alive since 1983 and 1994. The only places that the Lotis Blue Butterfly has been seen near Mendocino on California's north coast. They think that the butterfly has been extinct.

The preferred habitat for the Lotis Blue Butterfly is wet meadows and willow bogs. A common plant found on the Mendocino coast in damp coastal prairies. Females lay their eggs on these plants.
