The goal of this project is to make traveling easier, to make the roads safer, to save time, and to make pedestrians safer. This will help because some people will ignore stop signs if they think that no one is there, when there might really be pedestrians. This will tell them when it's okay to just go.
Our invention is a folding stop sign. It folds down when it senses pedestrians or cars. There are two different sensors connected to the sign One of them senses pedestrians and the other senses cars. So the sign knows when to go up and down. This solves the problem of having to stop for no reason.
Google images:We figured out the difference between level crossings and regular stop signs- and figured out our invention is in between those two.
Wikipedia: We found the types of stop signs that have already been created.
The Traffic Sign Store: There are roll up stop signs, but not electric fold up and censored stop signs.
We found things similar to ours such as stop signs that fold in different ways, and level crossings on railroads, but they do not have sensors or fold like ours because our pole would fold down instead of the actual sign.
Having to stop for no reason at intersections when there is no traffic. Have you ever been driving and had to stop because there was a stop sign even though there was no one there and therefore no reason to stop? Our solution, a folding stop sign.
