Comparison of the glorious place to the development of thneeds.

In the glorious place there was no pollution at all. Then by the simple action of the Once-ler moving in and creating his thneed factory it caused a lot of pollution to occur in the air and water. This drove out all the organism populations and turned the area icky.

A sustainable development

is a development that will last and will provide for everyone and everything's needs. It will last and not deplete any of the environments resources. The Once-ler did not practice the sustainable development because he only thought of his wants and not what the world actually needed.

Definition of a sustainable development. Is that what the Once-ler did?

I'd be sad to see many things in this environment to go. Trees because I grew up with trees everywhere the green and the fresh air. I'd be sad to see the grass go because it's what makes the world green and soft. I'd also be sad to see animals like birds, because of their music, and then night sky because I wouldn't be able to see the night sky.

What parts of the environment would I be sad to see go?

This story is often called a cautionary tale because it tells us that we are taking what we have for granted. Also if we do what the Once-ler did then the world would be lost and devastating. It’s a story so that’s the tale part, the story is warning us to stop what we are doing therefore cautioning us.

Why is the Lorax known as a "cautionary" tale?

If I was the Lorax I would of told the Once-ler who I was. Then if he acted like he did the I would of told him what would happen to the environment when all the trees were gone. When he continued to keep going I would tell him how it was going to affect everything including him and his business.
