Distorted and bizarre thoughts, emotions and movements are all symptoms of undifferentiated schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a single illness, but there are different types. Which means there are different types of symptoms that come along with each type.
Treatment is usually based on the present and prevailing symptoms shown by the patient. The disorder is generally treated through: medication, therapy and hospitalization.
Counseling is given to patients to talk out conflicting issues that may have anything to do with their disorder. Some patients join support groups so they can talk to people that have the same problems as they do. It is also good to be joined by family and/or a friend so the patient can feel supported throughout therapy by their loved ones.
People are diagnosed with the subtype "undifferentiated Schizophrenia" when their symptoms are not specific enough or sufficiently formed enough to be diagnosed as any of the other types of Schizophrenia.
It is very difficult to actually diagnose undifferentiated schizophrenia because of the lack of clear cut symptoms. The disorder is diagnosed on the basic symptoms of schizophrenia which include: delusions and behavioral change and emotional imbalance among others.
Hospitalization is not a treatment on its own. For people who are at risk of hurting themselves or others they will be hospitalized or institutionalized for their safety. Along with this, the patient will also be given medication and therapy
People with an immediate family member that has schizophrenia has a 10 percent chances of developing the disorder. Although schizophrenia is influenced by genetics, it is not determined by them. Sixty percent of the people with the disorder do not have any family members with it.
The causes of schizophrenia are not completely known. However, it seems that it has complex interactions with genetic and environmental factors.
More and more research is pointing to stress . When stressed the body makes more of the hormone cortisol which can trigger schizophrenia.
