What happens when social contract is violated?

A social contract does not eliminate procedures or consequences. It will help define how we all want to be treated in the classroom.There will be consequences if social contract is not followed since we agreed upon this contract.

Overcoming obstacles in our way

Consequences include:

*Warning with four questions to be reminded of social contract

*Chose to take a break in the hall until Berwick can come talk to you more.

Non-Verbal Signals to Manage

*Chose to call parents about behavior and be assigned a lunch detention.

Used to help self manage so learning can continue without conflict.

*Chose to go see an administrator.

Teacher signal

EXCEL Model of Leadership

When this hand signal is given by teacher, all students mirror the signal, manage their behaviors and listen for directions from the teacher. (Timeout/hand up)

Student signal

Keep learning in a positive way!

This hand signal is given by one student toward another student that is not following the contract to help them self manage. (Thumb sideways)

Engage: Welcome, positive greeting and affirmation (Model social and professional skills)

Foul signal

Xplore: Ask open ended questions, listening, to learn the needs of others in a secure environment

This signal is given when someone puts some one down. When ever it is given, no questions asked, the person who it is called on should give 2 positive affirmations about the individual put down. (Arm cross)

Social Contract

What is it?

A Social Contract is an agreement between all of us in the classroom about how we want to be treated. It is created by you, the students of the class.

What is its goal?

We create it, we thrive in it!

The goal of a social contract is to create a self managing group that more effectively learns skills to be successful in life as well as the subject content.
