Formative Assessment

Warm-Up Activity

Everyone will use one of the following examples that they are familiar with to write down a character's objective and their super objective and why. If you think of a good example appropriate for the class you can use that as well.

Potential Examples

-2 or 3 volunteers to act as different characters (ex; Pirate, mime, ballerina, stressed school student, A child who loves candy, etc)

-1 volunteer to guess characters and ask questions

The Wizard of Oz

1 volunteer will act as a person who is looking for a date amongst 2-3 mysterious people. They will ask 3 questions that all characters will answer in their designated characters that they're posing as. At the end of the 3 questions, they will guess what character each person is acting as, then choose the best bachelor/bachelorette!

If you have not participated yet, you are required to share your example

Your final project is to perform a monologue for the class

Since we all have already carefully chosen monologues from last class, now you will have to really study the chracter and their emotions, thoughts, and objectives to really perfect your monologue.

As homework, please come to next class with a 2 paragraph writing, one describing your character's objective and your character's super objective in the monologue

What'd you notice?

Don't want to read it out loud? Ask for an understudy and have someone else read your card!

Participation Petals

At the end of the play I want to be able to throw a rose on stage, but I can't do that if I haven't even seen everyone perform!

To ensure we have full class participation everyone has a petal with their name in it. Everyone can of course participate more than once after everyone in class either volunteers for a game, or answers a question.
