Working with a mentor

Everyone learns from their mistakes, so with a good mentor, they can teach you through their past experiences.

Now you will see easier or better ways to do things, and not only see it as the work you have to do, but also with another perspective of your own ideas.

You will eventually develop a partnership or friendship with your mentor and you will see them more as a friend and realize you can always go to them for help and you will not be on your own.

My research and my product

Working with a mentor for my music has really helped me grow and learn.

A start of a new musical era

Playing Piano

Mark Renzi

  • Working with a mentor is beneficial
  • The pianoforte was a start of a new era
  • Ludwig Van Beethoven was a musical genius

The “pianoforte” was a version of the harpsichord that could play either loud or soft. It was created in 1698 by Bartolomeo Cristofori.

“The hammers must strike the string but not continue to touch it once they have struck (which would damp the sound). Moreover, the hammers must return to their rest position without bouncing violently, and it must be possible to repeat a note rapidly. Cristofori's piano action served as a model for the many different approaches to piano actions that were to follow” (“Piano” par. 3).

There were many problems that Cristofori encountered, but he skillfully managed to bypass them.

Playing piano has helped me have a fun pastime to improve on and given me a different outlook on things.

Beethoven was the genius to advance the piano and music in general.

Ludwig Van Beethoven

Ludwig Van Beethoven is a musical genius and has written many pieces of music that are well known and are still famous today.

The prodigy wrote nine symphonies, 32 piano sonatas, one opera, five piano concertos, and many chamber works including some string quartets.

He was born on December 17, 1770 in Bonn, Germany and died on March 26, 1827 in Vienna, Austria.

He composed every one of his pieces deaf.

From this, I basically learned that I have to watch my dynamics and tempo next time I play. It was a great experience, and just like every other time I play, at home, at a competition, if I win, or not, I always feel like I want to do this, it is something enjoyable and that I will continue to do. I feel like playing instruments has had a positive impact on my life, it has given me goals to work for, and is just overall fun.

I played the piano and the accordion for the 2015 ATAM Cup at the championship. Every year I compete and play a different song, but it helps because I am always learning how I can improve and become a better player. I have come in first place multiple times in the past, but every competition, th songs and the competitors get more challenging.
