Jon Stevens - NZ/Australian - Noiseworks/INXS

Jay Laga'aia - Samoan - Movie/TV Actor

Jon Stevens is a Mozzie, an Maori Aussie. He helped form the popular band 'Noiseworks', the band successfully made 3 Top 10 singles and 4 Top Australian albums.

He has also collaborated with famous rock group INXS. After a health scare, he is now a proud supporter for Heart Foundation creating awareness for all Australians. I have included the famous hit 'Reach out' which was filmed at Bombo Quarry in 1988.

Conclusion

Overall, Polynesians have contributed to Australia by participating in Australian Sports and the Entertainment Industry, through singing, songwriting, acting and dancing. There are plenty more talented successful Polynesians like Fuifui Moimoi, Jarryd Hayne, Stan Walker, Vika and Linda and currently in the making Talia and Seonaid Lothian for Girls Rugby League.

I am of Samoan/Tongan/Scottish/Irish descent and am proud to be an Australian.

Jay has been able to play specific islander roles in Australian television. He has introduced Australia to its changing population. Home and Away, McLeod's daughters, Water Rats are just a few Australian TV Shows he has been a part of and is currently working with PLay School and currently making music for ABCKIDS . He is of Samoan descent.

Contribution - Music

Polynesians have contributed to the musical culture of Australia, through singing, songwriting and music. Through reality TV shows such as X Factor, The Voice and Australian idol, Australia has discovered these outstanding talents.

My mother, Sophia Lothian

Mo'onia Gerrard is well known in the netball world, representing Australia. She was selected first in the Australian netball team to play against NZ Silver Ferns and in 2007 helped Australia win the Netball World Championships. She is of Tongan/Australian descent.

Tim Cahill - Samoan/English

Professional Soccer Player

Tim Cahill had helped put Australia on the map in the World Cup Finals in 2006 and being the first Australian player to score. Tim Cahill is one of the first picked to represent in the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil. He is of Samoan/English descent.

Contribution - Sport

The number of Polynesians represented throughout Australia's many sporting codes give a big picture as to how they have been contributed. Not only have their success been recognised in Australia but also internationally.

Introduction

The word Polynesia means 'many islands'. Polynesia is stretched from New Zealand to Easter Island and way up north to Hawaii. It consists of thousands of islands that lies in the Pacific Ocean. Ever since Captain Cook, islanders have been travelling to Australia, where they have been contributing to the life Australia has developed.
