My Family Tree

Summary

After doing this assignment I really learned more about my background that made me who I am and I honestly learned more about my family also. I learned more about some of my family members and their lives which I didn't think would happen, and I learned how my family came to Canada. Most of my family was either from Ukraine or Great Britian and this was a surprise to me because I knew about the Ukraine background but I wasn't told anything about the Great Britian background. This entire assignment was a learning experience for me honestly and that surprised me a bit.

I learned that a lot of my ancestors came from Ukraine with close to no possessions and no goals but a better life. This was a huge surprise to me and even some of my other family members. Others came from Great Britian, specifically Ireland, but unlike the otehr story they had possessions and also seeked a better life. All of my family surprisingly moved straight to Saskatchewan to settle and from who I have talked to, we have no real reason why but I am thankful they moved here. A lot of my family also has really cool stories of how they made a living, for example a band leader in WWII, and some stories of how people lived. My grandparents were farmers and my Great grandmother gave birth inside of a grainery! That is insane! Just shows how much we don't know about our family and how we got to where we are today.

All of my grandparents live in other states

and my sweet old Nanny (Letha) who just obtained

an iPhone, does not know how to take pictures of other

pictures, that's why some of them are blurry beyond

comprehension. Also, many of the young pictures of my great-grandparents have been lost in moves and misplaced over time, and I don't have more than one of each great-grandparent. Records were not kept on who exactly came here from America, so that is why we do not know the ancestor's name. Finally, my recipe is not necessarily from Germany, but my mom said that this recipe has been passed down from many many generations and it will have to do.
